REGGAE RECIPE #2 – 30TH AUGUST @ VALENTINO’S, READING UK

Reality Shock’s hometown Reading, is a place with a long established music scene; remembered worldwide for venues like Central Club, which hosted most of the biggest names in reggae music throughout the 80′s & 90′s, until it lost its entertainment license in 2001. Looking around the town now, it seems that most independent music venues have been closed down (most recently Face Bar) leaving just a small strip of the town centre still active, promoting heavy drinking student bars saturated with commercial music. It feels as if Reading is crying out for something new & organic on the scene & Reggae Recipe is aiming to fill that gap & providing a free entry night on the last Thursday of each month for music lovers of all nations, young & old, brought to you by the Reality Shock family. With no-attitude at Reggae Recipe nights, theres just nice vibes inside Valentinos; a classy wine bar with convenient central location. Valentinos can be found on Valpy Street, just round the corner from Reading station & opposite Reading Town Hall (postcode RG1 1AR).

Reggae Recipe’s opening night in July saw performances from legendary artists such as Jah Screechy (famous for his anthem ‘SL2 – On A Ragga Tip’), Reading’s original Rootsman Aqua Livi, homegrown deejay sensation Deadly Hunta & many more. Squeachi of Psalms 1 Sound opened the night selecting alongside Ring The Alarm before Kris Kemist took to the decks, with a whole heap of Reality Shock artists at hand to help fan the flames. If you missed it you can check out the vibes below, which also went out live on the night on ustream.com

The Reggae Recipe monthly event is a healthy musical mix not to be missed. In addition to the top local sounds and well known guest artists there is also Ital food available, merchandise stall by Drumbeat Afrika, seated areas & a smoking zone outside. Join us for Reggae Recipe #2 on 30th August from 9pm-2.30am. If you cant make it be sure to tune in to the live websteam powered by Katch Bullet Video Production (got to www.ustream.com & search for reality shock).
